Overprint
Overprinting one color (1/C) black text and other one color black objects can ensure quality print jobs. It’s often the simplest way to ensure crisp results and often solves the issue of mis-registration on a print press.
In Illustrator and InDesign, you can check to be sure 1/C text and objects are set to overprint by viewing your separations palette.
- Turn on "Overprint Preview"
- Turn the Black channel off and on
- Check to make sure the black text or objects disappear without knocking out to the paper. (If you see white text or an object when you turn black off, your text and/or images are not set to overprint.)
Setting Text and Objects to Overprint
- Select the text or object that needs to be set to overprint and go to your attributes panel
- Click to select Overprint / Overprint Fill
