AIMedia Completes Energy Efficient Lighting Upgrade
As part of a company-wide energy management initiative, AIMedia recently completed a 100,000sf energy efficient lighting upgrade.
The upgrade was made to the Nashville, TN packaging and fulfillment facility and consisted of switching from metal halide high bay lighting to Simkar 6 Bulb T8-style fluorescent fixtures with computer-designed high efficiency (95%) Miro 4 reflectors.
The upgrade will produce annual lighting energy savings of 57% totaling approximately 61,000 kWh per year. The reduction in energy usage equates to eliminating over 42.1 metric tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) or essentially the same greenhouse gas emissions from 8.2 passenger vehicles, 4,716 gallons of gas, or CO2 emissions from electricity used in 5.2 homes in a single year. In addition to the energy savings, the lighting is creating a safer and more comfortable environment for employees by providing brighter work areas and reducing heat emission during the summer months.
The energy management initiative was created to drive energy efficiency in AIMedia’s existing facilities in Nashville and Las Vegas, which will reduce operational costs through ongoing energy upgrades and retrofits.
